This is a yoga nidra practice for deepening your awareness of body sensations and their relationship to emotions. This awareness can inform not only the way you express feelings musically, but also the way you experience and process your emotions in day-to-day life.
Buddhist philosophy considers us to have six senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and then also the feeling body, and the thinking mind. The concept is that it is the body that feels, and emotions are equated with body sensations. I find this a very useful model for working with emotions in both life and art.
CW: This episode is designed to evoke a variety of emotions within you, in order to explore and work with them. Be aware that some intense feelings may arise for you at moments throughout this practice, and be sure to continue breathing fully throughout.
